The stallion parade in the main and state stud Marbach is an annual event on two weekends between September and October, except in the years when the main agricultural festival takes place in Stuttgart . Stallions and mares of different breeds are presented in three four-hour presentations, and hippological lectures are also offered. For decades, around 30,000 horse lovers have attended the stallion parade of the internationally known stud in the Middle Swabian Alb every year . Jan Tönjes is the moderator.

history

The stallions were first demonstrated in the winter of 1925 at the Offenhausen stud farm . In 1950 the “stallion demonstration” was relocated to today's state riding school near the Marbach stud farm. In 1958 the event, which now took place on Paradeplatz, was moved to autumn. The 122nd to 124th parade will take place in 2019.

In 2008, a partner country was invited for the first time, Switzerland , which participated with the Swiss national stud Avenches and the driving artist Daniel Würgler. Among other things, there was a discussion about the future of equestrian sport in Baden-Württemberg with the former show jumper Hans Günter Winkler , the President of the Baden-Württemberg Equestrian Association Gerhard Ziegler and Manfred Raichle from the state commission for horse performance tests.

In 2009, among others, the mounted fanfare procession of the Hungarian national stud farm Bábolna and Bíro Gabor as well as Kürti Péter with their riding troop from the Hungarian Puszta took part in the stallion parade . Riding master Martin Plewa and Olympian Annette Wyrwoll took part in the expert discussion. The toy manufacturer Schleich brought a limited special edition of a Black Forest cold-blooded stallion in miniature format onto the market for the stallion parade . The Equestrian Sports Association of Baden-Württemberg invited personal members (PM) of the German Equestrian Association (FN). The Dutch hippologist Jac Remijnse participated with a lecture on horse breeding.

In 2019, Spain was the host country. Riders of the Cordoba Ecuestre from the Royal Riding Stables of Andalusia showed several show numbers. In the Speedtrail and Drive , teams of riders and team drivers competed. Other items on the program were the Roman chariots and choreographies with teams from various stud farms. As in previous years, the "silver herd" galloped freely through the arena. Further highlights were the show jumping and dressage quadrilles that are listed annually .
