History for All - Institute for Regional History

The association history for all e. V. was founded in 1985 by a group of history students from Erlangen to “promote young historians” - so the original subtitle. From a student initiative, which from the beginning pursued the goal of researching regional history and communicating it to different target groups, an association with over 1200 members and professional structures has grown up to this day, which now has twelve employees and over 250 honorary employees. The seat of the association is Nuremberg, but the field of activity includes the entire region of Nuremberg, Fürth, Erlangen and Bamberg.

City tours

The numerous from Geschichte Für Alle e. V. topics of the city tours offered in Nuremberg , Erlangen , Fürth and Bamberg range from everyday, social and cultural-historical topics to the history of the city district and nationally important topics such as

The extensive range of city tours with around 250 different topics is expanded every year with new offers for different target groups such as children, young people, adults, senior citizens, company groups, locals and tourists. In 2001 the field of activity was expanded to include the city of Bamberg: since this year the activities of the Bamberger Schleichwegla e. V. within the association Geschichte Für Alle e. V. continued and set up a second office in Bamberg.

Museum education

From 1999 to early 2011, the club was a story for all e. V. - Institute for Regional History , as the association calls itself today, entrusted with the conception and implementation of educational offers in the Jewish Museum Franconia in Fürth. Since opening in 2001, Geschichte Für Alle e. V. together with other educational institutions in Nuremberg the study forum in the Documentation Center Nazi Party Rally Grounds and offers numerous educational offers on the history of National Socialism . Since November 2010 the Memorium Nuremberg Trials has also been one of the association's fields of activity. As a partner of the House of Bavarian History , the association also offered accompanying programs to the Bavarian state exhibitions of Emperor Heinrich II in Bamberg (2002) and 200 Years of Franconia in Bavaria in Nuremberg (2006) .

Executioner's House Nuremberg

In September 2007, under the sponsorship of Geschichte Für Alle e. V. - Institute for Regional History opened a small museum of legal history. The exhibition in the executioner's tower and in the adjacent Nuremberg executioner's house, the former official residence of the Nuremberg executioner, tells of the office of the executioner and the most famous executioner in the city, Franz Schmidt , whose service diary contains numerous details from the everyday history of the imperial city of Nuremberg around 1600.

The exhibition in the executioner's house is an example of the historical research work of the association and has been permanently accessible to the public since September 2007.

Research work and history projects

The association has been issuing an association publication that has been numbered to this day since 1994, the "Nürnberger GeschichtsRundbrief". Newer copies are available on the website, the University Library Erlangen has collected the booklets in full or edited them as photocopies. In addition to city tours, educational offers and lectures, history is conveyed by Geschichte Für Alle e. V. - Institute for Regional History implemented through numerous history projects, publications and exhibitions. Most of the publications are published by Sandberg-Verlag Nürnberg.

Umbrella organization

History for All e. V. is a member of the Forum New City Tours (FNS), an association of around 20 providers of city tours with common quality standards in Germany and Switzerland.
