Hennadij Oleschchuk

Hennadij Oleschtschuk (born June 29 or December 6, 1975 in Babrujsk ) is a former Belarusian weightlifter .

Career

Oleschchuk achieved fifth place in the class up to 62 kg at the European Championships in 1999 . At the world championships in the same year he was sixth. In 2000 he was fourth in a duel at the European Championships and won bronze in jerking. He also took part in the Olympic Games in Sydney that year , where he finished fourth. After Sewdalin Mintschew was disqualified from doping , he was awarded the bronze medal.

At the 2001 European Championships he won gold in the push, but in the snatch he had no valid attempt. He was more successful at the 2001 World Championships , where he won the world title and set a new world record in pushing with 181 kg . In 2003 he won bronze at the European Championships . He was also third at the 2003 World Championships . However, he was disqualified for a doping violation and banned until 2005. After his suspension, he was first at the 2006 European Championships in the 69 kg class. However, he was banned for life because of another doping violation.
