history

Henneberg, historical orientation table

In the area around Henneberg there was a rich iron ore train and a hermaphrodite ( tin ), which were already mined in several pits at the beginning of the 16th century. The name goes back to the "Alte Henne" mine, muted in 1508, from which Eistenstein was extracted. Due to the strong pit water , many of the pits often drained. Only the construction of the so-called Henneberger Erbstollen from 1680 provided a remedy here. The new Henneberger Zechenhaus, which is shown in the Sächsisches Meilenblatt from 1791, was the origin of today's settlement. There was also the old Henneberger colliery a little further south-east. To the east of the Kleiner Kranichsee in the direction of the Henneberger Häuser peat was extracted until 1923 and parts of the raised bog were removed as a result.

After the Second World War, a company holiday home of VEB Synthetex Lichtentanne with a public restaurant moved into one of the two Henneberg houses , from which today's excursion restaurant emerged.

Attractions

Immediately northwest of Henneberg is the under nature conservation standing Small Kranichsee , one of the most important high moorlands of the Saxon Erzgebirge .
