Henni Heidtrider (name variants: Heidtreiter, Henni & Heidtreiter, Henning & Heidtrider, Henning & Heitridder, Henni & Heitridder, Henning & Heitrider, Henni & Heitrider, Henning ; * around 1580; † between 1641 and 1656 probably in Hamburg ) was a sculptor of the Baroque .

Live and act

In the period from 1611 to 1640, Henni Heidtrider is documented based on traditional works. Accordingly, he worked first in Kiel (1611-1616) and twice in Hamburg (1618-1626 and 1638-1640).

In Schloss Husum his Mannerist splendor were fireplaces that he made 1612-1615. Castle building invoices from Kiel and Husum official accounts show that Henni Heidtrider and four journeymen worked on a chimney in the workshop of Kiel Castle in 1613 (for 232 Taler 16 ß) , which was then transferred to Husum Castle and installed there.

The death throes fireplace is made of alabaster and sandstone . It is an open fireplace type. The rich furnishings with artistic details include the consoles adorned with winged putti heads and several relief representations - for example that of Honor and Opulentia. The coats of arms of Duke Johann Adolf von Schleswig-Holstein-Gottorf (left, heraldic right) and his wife Augusta, daughter of King Friedrich II of Denmark and Norway, are shown in the fireplace gable .

The original death struggle chimney (photographs) has been in the Bode Museum in Berlin since 1919 , after it was first shown in the German Museum there. A copy of the chimney was set up in Husum Castle in 1992, the appearance of which was determined based on the findings of the restoration investigations by the restorer Gottfried Grafe, taking into account the aesthetics of aging.

For his Juno relief in 1615 he used the engravings by Crispin de Passe, the elder, as a template. This work was also in the Deutsches Museum zu Berlin in 1932.
