Henning Beckhoff

Henning Beckhoff (* 1991 in Ennepetal ) is a German film director and screenwriter .

Life

Beckhoff turned to photography, then to the theater - first to acting, then to direction. Funded by a Germany Scholarship, he studied feature and documentary film directing at the Film University Babelsberg Konrad Wolf (Bachelor and Master) from 2012 to 2018 . His films ran a. a. at the Max Ophüls Preis film festival , the Hof International Film Festival and the Berlinale .

His first feature film Five Things I Don't Understand premiered at the Hof International Film Festival in 2018. The film received the Bild-Kunst-Förderpreis for the best costume and stage design, an honorable mention at the award ceremony for the "Neues Deutsches Kino" award , the audience award in Poitiers and the award for the best production at the "Achtung Berlin" festival . The film will start in cinemas nationwide on November 7, 2019 and will be awarded by Filmgalerie 451.

Beckhoff's graduation film Off Season celebrated its premiere at the Berlinale 2019 in the category "Perspektive Deutsches Kino" and was awarded the Michael Ballhaus Prize by First Steps .

Henning Beckhoff lives and works as a freelance director , author and producer on feature and documentary films in Berlin. He is a scholarship holder of the script workshop in Munich and the Wim Wenders scholarship of the Film- und Medienstiftung in NRW. In 2020 he is a participant in the Berlinale Talents.
