Henri-Louis Pernod (* 1. March 1776 in Le Locle , † 8. December 1851 in Pontarlier ) was the founder of an absinthe - distillery .

In 1797 Henri-Louis Pernod married Emilie Dubied, the aunt of Henri Edouard Dubied Jr., a textile industrialist. In the same year he began with the commercial production of absinthe, first in Couvet, Switzerland ( Canton Neuchâtel ), later on a larger scale in Pontarlier, France, where he founded a second distillery in 1805. He could count on the support of his father-in-law Major Daniel Henri Dubied and his son Henri Edouard, who already owned an absinthe distillery in Couvet. The Dubieds left the company shortly after it was founded and dedicated themselves to their own distillery.
