They got engaged despite the misgivings of the Stein'schen and the grand ducal family: It was an unheard of event that a maid of honor, a daughter of the noble family, should marry a commoner. The reigning Grand Duke Karl Friedrich bestowed the title of nobility on her husband and they both married in 1839. At the beginning of 1841, their daughter Adelheid von Schorn was born. Less than a year later, Ludwig von Schorn died of a breast disease.

Henriette von Schorn maintained contacts with many people from the Weimar educated middle class. These included: Hans Feodor von Milde , Rosa von Milde , Peter Cornelius , Hoffman von Fallersleben , Louise Seidler , Carolyne zu Sayn-Wittgenstein and Franz Liszt . She wrote poems for Die Gartenlaube , the Leipziger Allgemeine Modezeitung , the Weimar Sunday newspaper and the Munich house chronicle . For Ludwig Bechstein's fairy tale collections , some of her fairy tale poems were published under the pseudonym H. Nordheim .
