Hans Feodor von Milde
Hans Feodor von Milde , actually Johann Hans Theodor (born April 13, 1821 in Petronell , Austrian Empire , † December 10, 1899 in Weimar ) was an Austrian opera singer ( baritone ) and husband of the singer Rosa Agthe .
Life
Hans Feodor von Milde was born on April 13, 1821 in Petronell near Vienna . His father was the administrator of Prince Batthyany's property . At the age of eleven, he performed as an oratorio singer at the Heiligenkreuz Abbey at concerts in the monastery church. At his father's request, he was to study law in Vienna . But he broke off his studies and was trained as a singer by Franz Hauser and Manuel Patricio Rodríguez García .
He made his first appearance in the autumn of 1846 as Tsar in the opera Zar und Zimmermann by Albert Lortzing . Through Franz Liszt he received a rehearsal guest performance in Weimar . There he appeared for the first time on May 23, 1848 as Lord Ashton in the opera Lucia di Lammermoor by Gaetano Donizetti . With his later wife Rosa Agthe he sang in Richard Wagner's opera Tannhauser and the singer war on Wartburg . There he played Wolfram and Rosa Agthe played Elisabeth . At the world premiere of Wagner's opera Lohengrin , he sang Telramund and she sang Elsa . They both married in 1851.
The Milde couple performed together in many operas in Weimar. In Benvenuto Cellini by Hector Berlioz , Hans Feodor sang Fieramosca and Rosa von Milde sang Teresa . This was followed by joint appearances in Heinrich Dorn's Die Nibelungen , Franz Schubert's Alfonso and Estrella and the operas The Barber of Baghdad and The Cid by Peter Cornelius . Hans Feodor von Milde gave his farewell performance in Weimar on June 15, 1884 in Donizetti's opera Lucrezia Borgia . Afterwards, like his wife Rosa, he gave singing lessons.
Hans Feodor von Milde died on December 10, 1899 in Weimar. The Milde couple had two biological children, Franz von Milde (1855–1929) and Rudolf von Milde (1859–1927), who also became singers. They also had an adopted daughter Natalie von Milde (1850-1906), who was a writer and suffragette .
