Henry Albers

Henry Albers (born May 28, 1904 in Hamburg , † July 4, 1987 in Wiesbaden ) was a German chemist and professor.

Life

During his studies in Erlangen in 1924 he became a member of the Bubenreuth fraternity . After studying chemistry at the University of Hamburg and completing his doctorate with Paul Rabe (chemist) in 1928, Albers was a research assistant there from 1928 to 1934. In 1934 he completed his habilitation in Hamburg . He then received a grant from the Rockefeller Foundation and worked at the Biochemical Institute at Stockholm University. From 1935 to 1938 he was a lecturer at the Institute for Organic Chemistry at the TH Hannover , where he was appointed adjunct professor in 1937 . In 1941 Henry Albers received a chair at the TH Danzig .

From 1950 he was visiting professor and from 1955 full professor at the University of Mainz . From 1963 to 1971 he was director of the Institute for Biochemistry at the University of Mainz. Albers was a poison gas specialist and received funding from the German Research Foundation .
