Henry George Valencia Brauner (born May 10, 1984 in Quezon City , Philippines ) is a former Filipino -American football player on the position of midfielder .

Career

Youth and club career

Born in the Philippines, Brauner came to the United States as a child and grew up in Tucson , Arizona . In 2004 he began his studies at Pima Community College in Pima County , Arizona. In 2005 he moved to Worcester State College , where he was elected to the " All-MASCAC men's soccer team " at the Worcester State Lancers , the college's sports department, in the same year . In his 17 games with the team, he scored four goals and gave six assists. In 2006 Brauner changed again. This time he went to the University of Arizona , where he was part of the soccer team of the Arizona Wildcats , the university sports department there. Due to the good performance, the Philippine Football Association became aware of the native Filipino during this time .

After Brauner had finished his studies in 2007, he moved to the New Hampshire Phantoms in the four-class North American USL Premier Development League in 2008 , where he only made three appearances in the club's only season and completed exactly 180 minutes of play. His 45-minute team debut at the season opener on May 3, 2008 in a 1-1 away draw against the Long Island Rough Riders , when he was in action for the entire second half, was followed by an operation for the 1.78 m tall midfielder on the next match day the full playing time in the 2-1 home win over the Cape Cod Crusaders . After he came on the third match day (May 17, 2008) in the 3-2 home win over the Rhode Island Stingrays only in the first half of the game, he did not appear in any other game report of the team.

The Filipino-American spent the 2009 season at Ventura County Fusion , in another division of the USL Premier Development League. There his debut followed on May 23, 2009 in a 3-1 home win over the Ogden Outlaws, but only one more brief assignment.

International

Brauner's international career began in the U-23 national team of his native country, in whose squad he was in his early college days. In November 2006 Brauner was appointed to the senior national team of the Philippines for the first time to qualify for the 2007 ASEAN soccer championship . A mission at that time failed, however, because problems arose with Brauner's passport and thus his eligibility to play.

When the Philippine national soccer team successfully qualified for the ASEAN championship in Singapore and Thailand , the midfielder was appointed to the national team again. He previously made his national team debut in a friendly against Singapore on January 7, 2007. In the 4-1 away defeat, Brauner came on in the 87th minute for Anton Gonzales , it was Brainer's only international appearance. In March 2009 he was appointed to the national team of the Philippines for the qualifying games for the AFC Challenge Cup 2010 .

Time as a junior coach

In 2008 Brauner, who holds the USSF D coaching license, worked as a coach at the FC Puma Soccer Academy in the US state of Massachusetts . At around the same time he returned to his old school, the Pima Community College, where he often works as a volunteer assistant coach. Between 2011 and 2013 he worked as an assistant coach at FC Tucson with games in the Premier Development League (PDL).

He later worked as an assistant coach at the academy of the MLS franchise Real Salt Lake and joined the Seattle Sounders' junior coordination team in 2016 and 2017 . There he has been Head of Recruitment at the Akademie des Franchises since about this time . Previously, this position was held by Junior Gonzalez , who, however, took over as head coach of the Rio Grande Valley Toros in December 2016 and had to resign from his position with the Sounders.
