Henry Heggen (born January 20, 1955 in Jacksonville , Florida ) is a singer and blues harp player. The passion and intensity with which he stands on stage also earned him the nickname Mr. Natural of the Blues . Blues harp players like Big Walter Horton , Sonny Boy Williamson I. , Sonny Terry and Little Walter influenced his harmonic playing.

Career

Henry Heggen grew up in Florida and later in London. There he met Chris Turner and learned to play the harp from him. He got into his band Have Mercy . He came to Germany in 1976 with the jug band Have Mercy and stayed. They played on the street and a little later also filled clubs across Germany. In 1978 Have Mercy broke up. Just a year later, Günther Brackmann and Henry Heggen decided to use their acoustic power electrically. The B. Sharp band was born. With this band he toured Europe and played as support a. a. for Joe Cocker , Mitch Ryder , Bo Diddley and Johnny Winter .

Today he is one of the best known and most popular harp players in Hamburg . Many musicians from the Hamburg scene like to play with him, such as the blues legend Abi Wallenstein or Inga Rumpf , on whose last record he recorded a few pieces.

His main area of ​​activity is currently the band The Crazy Hambones . The band plays the blues; Members are Micha Maass (drums, vocals), Brian Barnett (guitar, vocals) and Henry Heggen (harp, lead vocals).
