Henry Scrope, 3rd Baron Scrope of Masham KG (* around 1376 ; † executed on August 5, 1415 in Southampton ) was a knight and favorite of King Henry V.

Life

Scrope was inducted into the Order of the Garter in 1410 and held the office of Lord High Treasurer .

He was one of the leaders of the Southampton Conspiracy that was planning an attack on Henry as he set off to invade France. When the conspiracy was exposed, Scrope and his co-conspirators were arrested and executed. A traitor he was dragged through the streets of Southampton before he was executed.

His title of nobility was stripped from him, but was finally restored in 1426 for his younger brother John Scrope .
