Henry de Beauchamp, 1st Duke of Warwick

Henry de Beauchamp, 1st Duke of Warwick (March 21, 1425 - June 11, 1446 ) was an English nobleman .

He was the son of Richard de Beauchamp, 13th Earl of Warwick , and Isabel le Despenser . In 1434 he married Cecile Neville, the eldest daughter of Richard Neville, 5th Earl of Salisbury and Alice Montagu, Countess of Salisbury .

With the death of his father in 1439 he inherited the title of Earl of Warwick . Since he was a close friend of King Henry VI in his childhood . grew up and his father had high military merits, he was highly favored by the king and received several titles. In 1444 he was named Premier Earl of the Realm and on April 14, 1445 he was raised to Duke of Warwick . He was the second highest peer of the empire after the Duke of Norfolk . This ranking was challenged by the Duke of Buckingham , who was thereby postponed. The matter was quickly settled by his death the following year, by which the title of Duke of Warwick expired in the absence of male heirs. It is also stated that King Henry VI. crowned him king of the Isle of Wight in 1444 to give his friend a comparable rank to him.

With his death, his two-year-old daughter Anne inherited the earliest dignity due to a special arrangement in the award of suo jure. But she died three years later, so the title was dormant. Ultimately, his full sister Anne , who was married to Richard Neville , the eldest son of Richard Neville, 5th Earl of Salisbury , was named heiress because, according to the principles of English law, she prefers the three half-sisters from their father's first marriage was.
