Henryk Tomanek

Henryk Piotr Tomanek (born January 23, 1955 in Siemianowice Śląskie ) is a former Polish wrestler in the free and Greco-Roman style .

Career

Henryk Tomanek started wrestling at the sports club AKS Chorzów in 1969. In 1971 he moved to GKS Katowice . During his career he was looked after by the coaches Zdzisław Chyra, Jan Adamaszek, Antoni Masternak, Janusz Tracewski and Stanisław Krzesinki. Henryk Tomanek wrestled both in the free and in the Greco-Roman style, but always in the super heavyweight division.

He made his international debut at the European Junior Championships in Haparanda, Sweden, where he won the silver medal. Henryk Tomanek won his first senior medal in Sweden seven years later at the European Championships in Gothenburg.

In 1976 he took part in the Olympic Games in Montreal . He was denied further participation in the 1984 Olympic Games in Los Angeles because of the boycott by the socialist countries. Henryk Tomanek ended his career in 1985 after the World Championships in Kolbotn ( Norway ).
