Herbert Büschenfeld

Herbert Büschenfeld (born October 19, 1925 in Marienburg , West Prussia ; † November 21, 2017 ) was a German geographer .

Life

After his military service and captivity , he studied in Weilburg from 1947 to 1950 and then entered the school service. In addition to his work as a teacher in Wiesbaden , he completed a second degree at the University of Frankfurt from 1952 to 1957 , in the subjects of geography , education and psychology . In 1957 he received his doctorate with a dissertation on urban geography .

After three years as an assistant in Weilburg he went in 1961 to the University of Education in Münster for the lecturer in geography and its didactics . In 1964 he was first appointed associate professor , which was then followed by appointment as full professor after the establishment of the PH Westfalen-Lippe , Münster department. From 1980 to 1991 he worked at the Westfälische Wilhelms-Universität and after the winter semester 1990/91 he retired .

Fields of work and research

In addition to his 30 years of activity in teacher training , he was particularly interested in the subject didactics of media research. In addition, Büschenfeld devoted himself to urban geography problems and formed his main research areas with Westphalia and Yugoslavia . And he also dealt intensively with the successor states of the collapsed Yugoslavia.
