Herbert Bruna (born January 15, 1926 in Burkau ; † February 10, 2013 ibid) was a German writer who remained connected to his home region throughout his life.

Life

The son of a stone worker attended the village school in his native Burkau and then learned the profession of typesetter . After he was drafted into the Navy and returned from World War II , he specialized in commercial graphics . In 1950 he began his writing activities with the start of a two-year course at the Institute for Literature "Johannes R. Becher" in Leipzig. In 1951 he became a member of the Young Authors' Working Group in Dresden. Before turning to writing novels, two of which were printed, he wrote short stories for daily newspapers and magazines. He also published a story with a satirical touch in 1954. He named Gottfried Keller , Johann Wolfgang von Goethe and Adalbert Stifter as his literary role models . He was accepted into the German Writers' Association in 1956. Except for a war story in 1967, there were no other publications. It was not until 1987 that he appeared again as an employee of a collection of local history anecdotes.
