Herbert Fritzenwenger (born October 7, 1962 in Ruhpolding ) is a former German biathlete and cross-country skier .

His best result in the World Cup was third place in the individual over 20 kilometers in Antholz in 1985 . In 1988 he took part in the Olympic Games in Calgary in both biathlon (20 km individual competition) and cross-country skiing (50 km and final runner 4 × 10 km relay).

After his sporting career, in 1991 he took over the management of what was then the national performance center for biathlon in Ruhpolding. As a member and president of the organizing committee in Ruhpolding, he was jointly responsible for the development of biathlon until 2002.

In 1992 he launched and organized the Biathlon World Team Challenge . The WTC has been held in the Veltins-Arena AufSchalke since 2002. As a marketer from 1999 to 2003, he and his company, Fritzenwenger & Friends, were able to exploit the rights to most of the biathlon world cups and the 2003 biathlon world championships.

He was one of the co-developers of the Star Biathlon profile . In 2005, 2006, 2007, 2008 and 2013 ratings of up to 5.5 million viewers were achieved on ARD. In 2010 he was involved in the development of the SAT.1 program "Winter Games of the Stars". Both broadcast formats were realized in cooperation with the production company First Entertainment.

He works as a co-commentator for the biathlon competitions for ZDF.

Since November 2003 he has been President of the Ruhpolding Golf Club .

From mid-May 2009 to July 31, 2012, he took over the sporting management of the DSV Bundesstützpunkt Berchtesgaden / Ruhpolding in the disciplines of biathlon, cross-country skiing, Nordic combined and ski jumping for the German Ski Association.
