History of the company

The company's founder, Herbert Kannegiesser, was an engineer at the Focke-Wulf aircraft factory during the Nazi era . After fleeing from the Russian army, the family came to East Westphalia , where Kannegießer founded a company with four employees on April 3, 1948 in the municipality of Valdorf, now a part of the city of Vlotho . The company, initially founded under the name Valdorfer Maschinenfabrik GmbH, was renamed to Kannegiesser & Co. Maschinenfabrik GmbH a year later on May 10, 1949. In 1951 Herbert Kannegiesser became the company's sole shareholder.

The company produced band knife and ironing machines for the clothing industry with great success , in which many companies were active, especially in East Westphalia. It then specialized in ironing presses for machine ironing of shirts and also sold these abroad. As early as 1961, the company had 180 employees who achieved annual sales of around DM 25 million .

In 1966 his son Martin Kannegiesser became sales manager in his parents' company. After the death of his father, he became the owner of the company in 1974 , although he had already taken over management in 1968. As a result, he developed the company into the world market leader for industrial laundry technology.

As early as 1983 Herbert Kannegiesser GmbH presented a "one-piece ironing line" - the beginnings of a desired "complete system solution" that was continuously developed. Today the company produces almost all units for industrial laundry technology - from the washer extractor to the washing line to automatic sorting technology - with the four divisions wet area, molded parts area, flat laundry area and technical services. This wide range of products enables holistic composite solutions that cover the entire spectrum of industrial laundry technology.
