Herbert Wirkner (born December 1, 1950 in Rudolstadt ) is a German politician ( CDU ) and was a member of the Thuringian state parliament from 2014 to 2019 .

education and profession

Wirkner completed an apprenticeship as a bricklayer from 1965 to 1968 and then studied civil engineering at the engineering school for civil engineering in Gotha , which he graduated as a civil engineer specializing in civil engineering. He worked in the upper river management of the Saale / Werra water management department , and later in the construction team of the Deesbach dam . 1973/74 he did his basic military service. After the political change, he set up his own expansion company in 1990, which he managed until 2015.

Political career

Wirkner joined the CDU in 1993 and was elected to the city council of Rudolstadt in 1994 and became its chairman in 2009. He is also a member of the district council of the Saalfeld-Rudolstadt district . In the state elections in Thuringia in 2014 , he won the direct mandate in the constituency of Saalfeld-Rudolstadt I and was thus elected to the Thuringian state parliament. Within the CDU parliamentary group, he was the spokesman for craft and medium-sized businesses. He lost his mandate in the state elections in Thuringia in 2019 .
