Herferswil ( called Hefferswil until 1930 ) is a hamlet that belongs to the municipality of Mettmenstetten . It is located 500 meters north of the village of Unterrifferswil ( Rifferswil municipality ). It is located at the upper end of the Jonental , on the main road between Affoltern am Albis and Rifferswil.

The communities of Obermettmenstetten, Untermettmenstetten, Rossau, Dachlissen and Herferswil, which had been independent before 1798, continued to exist as civil communities in the 19th century until Ober- and Untermettmenstetten were combined in 1895 and all civil communities were abolished in 1929.

Herferswil is a little off the Jonentalstrasse. The main road 383 (Albisstrasse) is 550 meters from the village center. The Postbus line 223 ( Affoltern a. A. , Bahnhof - Hausen a. A. , Post) served the "Mettmenstetten, Herferswil" stop until the end of 2015. The nearest public transport stop is in Unterrifferswil.
