Heribert Arens

Heribert Arens OFM (* 1942 in Werl ) is a German Roman Catholic theologian , religious priest, Franciscan and homileticist.

Life

Heribert Arens has been a member of the Franciscan Order since 1961. After studying philosophy and theology in Münster and Paderborn, he was ordained a priest in Paderborn in 1967. From 1968 to 1970 he studied homiletics and speech training in Munich at the Institute for Catechetics and Homiletics . He was active in hospital and conversation counseling, as well as in preaching training. From 1983 to 1989 he headed the (then) Saxon Franciscan Province as Provincial , then as head of the novitiate of the Province he was responsible for the next generation of the Order, from 1995 to 2001 he was Provincial of the Province in a second term. From 2001 to 2005 he worked at the Institut der Orden (IMS) as a department head for process and chapter support . He was guardian in the monastery Hülfensberg in Eichsfeld ( Thuringia ) and has been guardian in the monastery and pilgrimage director at the Basilica Vierzehnheiligen since 2013 .
