Hermann Alexander Beyeler

Hermann Alexander Beyeler (born November 14, 1952 in Lucerne ; resident in Schwarzenburg BE ) is a Swiss entrepreneur , patron of culture , writer and honorary consul of Belarus .

Live and act

Beyeler grew up in Lucerne, where he also went to school. After completing his apprenticeship as a car painter , he founded his own bodywork workshop in Lucerne in 1974, which he sold in 1984 for health reasons. After training at a business school and the Lucerne School of Business and Information Technology, he became head of department in the financial administration of the Canton of Lucerne in 1990 .

From 1992 he invested in real estate , first with Rhyn Consulting in Hergiswil NW , and from 1994 onwards he realized various new buildings in the cantons of Lucerne, Ticino and north-west Switzerland. In 2001 he took over a large industrial site in Pratteln , which he built with commercial and residential properties and partly sold on - 135 apartments to two foundations and the 82-meter-high Ceres Tower to Credit Suisse .

In 2015, Beyeler took over the adjacent former Wasa area in Pratteln, which is to be developed with a mixed use of (retirement) apartments, a hotel, trade and shops.

Cultural engagement

Beyeler is also involved as an art collector , gallery owner and patron . In 2007 he founded the Foundation Art and Culture Center Littau , which he relocated to Pratteln in 2015 and which was then renamed the Foundation Art and Culture Region Basel . In 2012 he opened a gallery for visual arts combined with music events in Pratteln on an area of ​​1100 m 2 . In addition to buying and selling works of art, Beyeler maintains its own picture collection, the “Beyeler Collection”.

Beyeler maintains close cultural ties with the Vatican, for which he financially supports various cultural projects.

Publications

As a co-author with Gerd J. Schneeweiss, Beyeler published the first part of an art-historical thriller series planned as a trilogy in 2014 under the title “ Bozzetto ”, followed in 2018 by the second volume “GARS”. In between, in 2016, “Little Ben, an unbelievable police car”, a children's book, was published.
