Hermann Bauch (dialect poet)

Hermann Bauch (born March 17, 1856 in Heidersdorf near Nimptsch in the province of Silesia ; † March 3, 1924 in Polkwitz , district of Glogau , province of Lower Silesia ) was a Silesian dialect poet .

Life

Hermann Bauch was the son of a craftsman. He graduated from the teachers' seminar in Breslau and then worked as a teacher in Baumgarten near Frankenstein and later in the Wroclaw institution for the deaf and dumb. After his secondary school and rectorate exams, he worked as a school principal in Wroclaw from 1894. From 1913 to 1924 he published the calendar Der Gemittliche Schläsinger .

Works

He is known as the author of various dialect poems and humoresques. His best-known poem is probably the poem of "Sträselkucha". Before 1945 the poem was part of the curriculum at elementary schools in Silesia.
