Hermann Baumann (pedagogue)

Hermann Baumann (born November 22, 1889 in Freiburg im Breisgau ; † 1970 ) was a German reform pedagogue .

Baumann was the son of chemistry professor Eugen Baumann , studied biology, chemistry, mineralogy in Freiburg and Marburg from 1912 to 1916, and received his doctorate there in zoology in 1918. Then he passed the first state examination in 1919 and went as a supporter of Hermann Lietz from 1920 to 1921 in the Haubinda Landerziehungsheim and then headed the Schloss Bieberstein (Hessen) Landerziehungsheim until 1929. Only then did he do his legal clerkship and in 1930 went to lecturer for Biology and Chemistry at the newly founded Pedagogical Academy Kassel. After its closure in 1932, he went to Bederkesa as a teacher and from 1935 to 1955 as head of the Lyceum Theodor Storm School (Lehe) in Lehe .
