Hermann Egon von Fürstenberg-Heiligenberg (born November 5, 1627 , † September 10, 1674 in Munich ) was chief steward, chamberlain, privy councilor and court marshal of the Bavarian elector Ferdinand Maria and played in the 1658 election of the emperor in Frankfurt with his brothers Franz Egon and Wilhelm Egon an important role. In 1664 he and these brothers were raised to the rank of imperial prince.

Life

Hermann Egon was born as the fourth son of Count Egon VIII von Fürstenberg-Heiligenberg and Countess Anna Maria von Hohenzollern-Hechingen (1603-1652). He studied in Cologne from 1639 to 1643 , then for 2 years at the University of Leuven . In 1651 he became a Privy Councilor at the court of the old Elector Maximilian I of Bavaria . In 1655 his spiritual brothers gave him their share of the inheritance in return for a payment in advance; In 1657 he also achieved an economic balance with his brother Ferdinand Friedrich.

The rise to the imperial prince status

The Fürstenbergers belonged to the imperial count class . In 1664 Hermann Egon and his clergy brothers Franz Egon and Wilhelm Egon were elevated to the rank of prince by Emperor Leopold .

Against his emperor

In 1672 he advised the Bavarian elector against entering the war against France , which caused Emperor Leopold to be displeased .

After his death in Munich in 1674 after a stroke , he was buried in the castle chapel in Heiligenberg .

Marriage and offspring

Hermann Egon married Countess Maria Franziska von Fürstenberg-Stühlingen in Stühlingen in 1655 (* August 7, 1638, † August 24, 1680 in Weitra ). He had eight children with her:

  • Felix Egon (born November 25, 1657 - † March 5, 1686 in Cologne); Grand Provost of the Electorate of Cologne
  • Anna Adelheid (born January 16, 1659 - † November 13, 1701 in Brussels) ⚭ Prince Eugen Alexander von Thurn und Taxis
  • Maria Franziska (born September 17, 1660 - † June 8, 1691) ⚭ 1687 Prince Wilhelm Hyazinth of Nassau-Siegen
  • Ferdinand Max Egon (born October 24, 1661 - † May 6, 1696 in Paris); French general
  • Emanuel Franz Egon (born March 7, 1663 - † September 6, 1688 near Belgrade ); imperial colonel
