Hermann Eilsberger

Hermann Eilsberger (born August 23, 1837 in Allenburg , East Prussia , † December 19, 1908 in Berlin-Steglitz ) was a German theologian.

Life

As the son of a pharmacist and a descendant of Salzburg exiles , Eilsberger attended the old town high school in Königsberg . After graduating from high school, he studied Protestant theology at the Albertus University in Königsberg . In the winter semester of 1854/55 he became a member of the Corps Masovia . He received his doctorate in D. theol.

In 1862 he became garrison pastor in Thorn , in 1869 hospital chaplain of the "Mercy" in Königsberg i. Pr. From 1880 until his retirement in 1907 he was pastor at the Altroßgärter Church , district school inspector and superintendent . He was the editor of the Evangelical Community Gazette. He became known throughout Germany with his work on Martin Luther . His son was the industrialist Ernst Eilsberger (1868–1947).
