Hermann Erlhoff (born December 22, 1944 ) is a former German soccer player and current coach.

Career

Erlhoff's home club is SuS Westerholt -Bertlich, where he played in his youth. The trained machine fitter then worked together with Jürgen Wittkamp at SpVgg Herten in the association league. In 1966 he completed a trial training at FC Schalke 04 , but after an injury initially moved to TSV Marl-Hüls in the Regionalliga West . After a friendly game between TSV and Schalke, in which he had impressed Schalke's coach Fritz Langner , he received a contract with the Knappen in 1967 .

Erlhoff , who was in midfield at the time, made his first Bundesliga game on August 19, 1967 in the Glückauf-Kampfbahn . He was substituted on for the injured Heinz Pliska after a good half hour ; His opponent was Günter Netzer . In the 89th minute he provided Friedel Rausch with the template for the goal to make the final score 3: 4. Under coach Günter Brocker he became a regular player. After Brocker had to vacate his chair, Rudi Gutendorf came as a trainer with whom the “blues” reached the cup final in 1969 and the semi-finals of the European Cup the following year . Due to differences with Gutendorf, Erlhoff moved in 1970 despite the current contract after 75 league appearances with eight goals and five games in the European Cup to Bundesliga rivals Rot-Weiss Essen .

Now mainly used in defense , he was also a regular here, but had to relegate to the Regionalliga after the 1970/71 season . Two years later he managed to get promoted with the team, and he played another two years in the top division. In the 1975/76 season he was only used once; In his last Bundesliga game on March 13, 1976, a 0: 5 at 1. FC Kaiserslautern , coach Ivica Horvat changed him in the 80th minute for Hartmut Huhse . For Essen, he played 87 games in the Bundesliga, in which he scored seven goals.

Trainer

At Rot-Weiss Essen he was initially an assistant trainer and on September 27, 1976 replaced his “boss” Ivica Horvat. Erlhoff's team could not prevent relegation from the Bundesliga in 1977 . He initially remained coach of the Red White in the second division , but was replaced by Klaus Quinkert in January after a 3-3 draw at local rivals Black and White , with which the team slipped from a promotion place .

Erlhoff then worked as a trainer at SV Holzwickede , SpVgg Erkenschwick and, in the 1990s, for several years at VfB Hüls and one year at SG Marl (players: Steven Hollingsworth, Julian Platzer, Flo Lingner).

In the 2000/2001 season he coached the women's Bundesliga team FFC Flaesheim-Hillen , took 5th place in the championship and made it to the cup final in Berlin, where the team lost 2-1 to 1. FFC Frankfurt .
