Hermann Friedrich Christoph Lehmann

Hermann Friedrich Christoph Lehmann (born June 5, 1821 in Greifswald ; † May 31, 1879 in Neustettin ) was a German classical philologist and high school teacher.

Life

The son of a master baker attended the Greifswald grammar school and from Michaelis 1838 attended the Royal University of Greifswald . From the summer semester of 1840 he studied at the University of Leipzig and from Michaelis in the same year for two semesters at the Friedrichs University in Halle . He became a member of the Corps Guestphalia Halle (1840) and the Corps Borussia Greifswald (1841). In the following years he worked as a private tutor and from Easter 1844 served as a one-year volunteer in the Prussian army . After taking the pro facultate docendi exam in early 1846 , he worked as an assistant teacher at the Stralsund grammar school . From Easter 1849 he was an adjunct at the Putbus pedagogy and two years later became a full teacher at the Greifswald grammar school. In 1861 he was appointed director of the Fürstin-Hedwig-Gymnasium Neustettin , where he worked until his death in 1879.
