Hermann Gutmann (born May 11, 1907 , † September 25, 1987 ) was a German entrepreneur .

Life and work

Hermann Gutmann founded in 1937 in Middle Franconia Weissenburg as a sole proprietor, the company light alloys and wire H. Gutmann , which soon after in Hermann Gutmann Werke renamed was. Since 2010 the company has been Gutmann AG .

After a donation of 5,000 Reichsmarks to the NSDAP , Gutmann acquired the company Jacob Gilardi in Allersberg from the NSDAP at a low price in 1938 , whose Jewish owners had been expropriated . In the 1950s he had to return the company to its original owners.

Gutmann founded the Hermann Gutmann Foundation in 1987 , the purpose of which is to promote scientific purposes, upbringing as well as public and vocational training, and bequeathed his company to this foundation.

Gutmann died childless in 1987 at the age of 80 and was buried in the Weißenburger Südfriedhof .

NSDAP membership

Hermann Gutmann was admitted to the NSDAP on May 1, 1933 under membership number 3.070.155 , but his membership had not come into effect because the membership card was not handed over. The Reich leadership of the NSDAP granted a further application for membership of July 26, 1938, after clarification of the previously assumed membership relationship with effect from May 1, 1937, assigning membership number 6,088,204.

Honors

Hermann Gutmann was awarded honorary citizenship of the city of Weißenburg. The Hermann Gutmann Lecture Hall H2 at the University of Erlangen-Nuremberg was named after him.
