Hermann Holder

Hermann Hölder (born October 17, 1819 in Stuttgart ; † March 11, 1906 there ) was a German anthropologist .

Life

Hölder initially worked in Ulm. There he was involved in the completion of the Ulm Minster and was able to carry out archaeological excavations in the large Merovingian burial ground "on the Kienlesberg".

He was involved in the Württemberg state archeology and in 1871 founded the Württemberg Anthropological Association. As the first conservator in the Kingdom of Württemberg he established the state preservation of monuments .

Honors

In 1876 he was elected a member of the German Academy of Sciences Leopoldina .
