Hermann Hartwich (American Herman Hartwich or Hartwick, born July 8, 1853 in New York , † March 8, 1926 in Munich ) was an American-German landscape and genre painter .

Hermann Hartwich received his first lessons from his father, who worked as a landscape painter. Since 1877 he studied at the Royal Academy of Arts in Munich as a student of Wilhelm von Diez and Ludwig von Löfftz . Since 1881 he exhibited at the exhibitions in the Munich Glass Palace . Hartwich took part in the Paris Salon six times from 1888 to 1901 , where he won an award in 1892. From 1893 he also exhibited at the Great Berlin Art Exhibition , and from 1895 at the Munich Secession . He returned to the United States in 1893, but returned to Munich in 1896. Here he was awarded the title of professor in 1903. Hartwich was primarily a landscape, animal, genre and figure painter.
