Hermann Heinrich Stephanus

Hermann Heinrich Stephanus (born March 29, 1827 in Hanover , † October 16, 1899 in Linden ) was a German politician ( DHP ).

Life

Hermann Heinrich Stephen, a brick factory had been in April 1872 councilor and deputy community leader in Linden, then Acting on 1 December 1882 community leaders. From 1885 to 1888 Stephanus was a member of the Prussian House of Representatives . In the Reichstag elections for the German-Hanover Party (DHP), however, he was unsuccessful.

For health reasons he left the Linden magistrate on October 1, 1899.

Stephanus was married to Elisabeth Crusius (* 1837), the daughter of the philologist and grammar school teacher Gottlob Christian Crusius (1785-1848) , since 1855 . The couple had five children. For himself and his family he had the Villa Stephanus built on Davenstedter Straße in Linden.

Foundations

Stephanus founded several foundations: He provided the Stephanus Foundation for the poor of Linden with endowment capital of 500,000 marks.

Honors

In 1895, Stephanusstrasse in Linden-Mitte was named after the Senator while he was still alive (but “only laid out in 1905”).
