Hermann Hiller (local history researcher)

Hermann Hiller (born May 23, 1890 in Bielen , † after 1941) was a German teacher, local historian, local chronicle and archive manager in the Prussian district of Sangerhausen .

Hiller worked as a teacher in herrings / helmets . In 1927 he published the chronicle of the city of Heringen and later worked scientifically and literarily in homeland maintenance and research as a local writer and as a genealogist . In 1937 he was appointed archivist for the Sangerhausen district, with the town of Heringen and the surrounding communities forming his special field of work.

Since April 1933 he was a member of the NSDAP ( membership number 803.173).

The Ortschronik published by him in 1927 was reissued in 1993 on the occasion of the 666th anniversary of Heringen and is still considered a standard work for the history of the city of Heringen and the adjacent Golden Aue . In 2005 his book on herrings was reprinted again.

From 1931 to 1941 Hermann Hiller was chairman of the Harz Club branch association Heringen / Auleben .
