Hermann Joseph Hinterstoisser

Hermann Joseph Hinterstoisser (born December 7, 1861 in Aigen ; † August 12, 1932 in St. Jakob in Defereggen ) was an Austrian surgeon , chief physician , senior staff doctor and hospital director.

Life

Born the son of a forester, Hinterstoisser studied medicine in Vienna on a military scholarship after attending elementary school in Aigen and the Collegium Mariano-Rupertinum grammar school in Salzburg . During his studies in 1881 he became a member of the Silesia Vienna fraternity , whose honorary boy he became in 1902. In 1887 he was promoted to Dr. med. PhD . He served as a one-year volunteer in the Salzburg house regiment Archduke Rainer No. 59 . In 1887 he was appointed senior physician and worked in a garrison hospital in Vienna. In 1887/88 he was assigned to the University Clinic of Theodor Billroth as a surgeon . In 1890 he became a regimental doctor. Around 1891/92 he learned from Rudolf Chrobak at the Vienna University Women's Clinic. In 1892 he became a reservist and went to Teschen , where he took over the management as well as the surgical and gynecological primary care of the general hospital of the Protestant community. He was very active on a voluntary basis, among other things he shaped the medical services in Silesia ; so he founded the Association of East Silesian Doctors in Teschen in 1893 , and became its chairman. From 1902 to 1908 he was a member of the Silesian Sanitary Council in Opava and then until 1920 of the Supreme Sanitary Council in Vienna. From 1896 to 1920 he served as councilor member of the municipal council of the city of Cieszyn. He took part in the First World War as a senior staff doctor in the reserve, 2nd class.

In 1930 he retired as a voivodship official. He has published numerous articles on medical topics.

His brother was the military writer and pioneer of Austrian aviation Franz Hinterstoisser .
