Hermann Kleist von Nollendorf

Hermann Graf Kleist von Nollendorf (* 2 September 1804 in Berlin , † 28. March 1870 in Berlin) came from the line ladies of his old Pomeranian uradeligen sex von Kleist , which was widely used in Prussia and numerous the State senior officers and officials presented . origin

Count Hermann Ferdinand Heinrich Leopold Kleist von Nollendorf came from the Stavenow branch of his house. His parents were the royal Prussian field marshal Friedrich Ferdinand Heinrich Emil von Kleist (1762-1823) and his wife Hermine Caroline Charlotte von Retzow (1767-1838). His father was born by King Friedrich Wilhelm III. on June 3, 1814 raised to the hereditary Prussian count status. He himself was born on September 2, 1804 in Stötterlingen near Osterwieck , Magdeburg district. He received private tuition in his parents' house, then came to the Joachimsthaler Gymnasium in Berlin in 1821/22 , which he then left again to prepare for his Abitur privately. He then passed his school leaving examination before the state examination board.

Military and professional career

After passing the school leaving examination, Hermann von Kleist studied law and cameralia (economics) at Berlin University for three years . During this time he did his one-year voluntary service with the 2nd Guard Uhlan Landwehr Regiment, where he was also appointed officer in 1827. On June 10, 1828, he joined the standing army and was, as an exception, appointed second lieutenant , subject to passing the prescribed test , and added to the 7th Cuirassier Regiment at Halberstadt .

As early as May 5, 1830, he left active military service because he was elected by the district assembly of the district of Halberstadt to the district administrator of this district. In 1832 he was confirmed in office, which he then held until 1843. On the occasion of his resignation from office, King Friedrich Wilhelm IV awarded him the Order of the Red Eagle, 4th class .

Hermann von Kleist retired into private life in order to cultivate his newly acquired large agricultural property in East Prussia. As early as 1841 he had acquired the Knauthen manor in the Preussisch Eylau district with a purchase agreement of February 25, 1841 , which comprised 1200 acres. He used to own his father's from King Friedrich Wilhelm III. Dominion Stötterlingenburg (four villages with 1068 inhabitants) awarded as a donation for the victory in the Battle of Kulm , but which he had sold back to the state. He died on March 28, 1870.

Count Hermann Kleist von Nollendorf was also Canon of Brandenburg. As such, he represented the Brandenburg Cathedral Chapter at the 6th Provincial Parliament of the Province of Brandenburg in 1837 .
