Hermann Knopf
Hermann Knopf (born November 7, 1870 in Vienna , † May 13, 1928 in Munich ) was an Austrian genre painter.
Life
Hermann Knopf studied at the Academy of Fine Arts Vienna with Julius Victor Berger (1850–1902) and at the Academy of Fine Arts in Munich with Alexander von Liezen-Mayer (1839–1898). He then came to Paris, where he studied from 1896 to 1897 at the École nationale supérieure des beaux-arts de Paris with Fernand Cormon (1845-1924). After graduating, he moved to Munich.
Knopf was elected a board member of the Munich Artists' Association.
In the 1890s he exhibited his works in the Munich Glass Palace . He mainly painted genre pictures from the bourgeois and peasant Dutch milieu in the style of Dutch genre painting.
