Hermann Liechti

Hermann Liechti (born December 12, 1850 in Murten ; † March 3, 1921 there , reformed , resident in Landiswil and Murten) was a Swiss politician (FDP) .

biography

Hermann Liechti was born on December 12, 1850 in Murten as the son of the wine merchant Johann-Christian Liechti and Anna-Barbara born Maeder. After graduating from secondary school in Murten, Hermann Liechti began studying forest engineering at the Swiss Federal Polytechnic , which he completed in 1871.

Subsequently he worked as an inspector in the districts of Gruyère and Veveyse until 1877 , then until 1886 in the lake and in the Broye district and finally until 1912 as forest and domain administrator for the city of Murten. He also served in the Swiss Army with the rank of colonel .

Hermann Liechti was married to Elisabeth, the widow of Jean-Frédéric Widmer and the daughter of the farmer Jakob Gutknecht. He died on March 3, 1921 at the age of 70 in Murten.

Political offices

Hermann Liechti, a member of the Free Democratic Party, was a member of Murten's municipal council (executive) from 1876 ​​to 1921 . During the same period he represented his party in the Freiburg Grand Council (1917 as President). He also acted as president of the Freiburg FDP. In addition, he was elected to the National Council in the parliamentary elections in 1911 , but failed in 1919 because of re-election.

Hermann Liechti's commitment was mainly to correcting the waters of the Jura , draining and reclaiming the Grosse Moos as well as changing the shores of the lake.
