Hermann Mosler (politician)

Hermann Josef Eduard Mosler (born December 15, 1838 in Koblenz , † July 3, 1891 in Trier ) was a German Roman Catholic priest , theologian , university professor and politician ( center ).

Life

Mosler attended grammar school in Koblenz and studied philosophy and theology at the universities of Münster and Tübingen from 1856 to 1859 and at the Trier Episcopal Seminary from 1859 to 1861 . In 1857 he was one of the founders of the Catholic student union AV Rhenania Tübingen . In 1861 he was ordained a priest in Trier. After that he was a chaplain in Trier-St. Antonius , and then continued to study at the University of Munich , where he received his doctorate in 1863. In 1863 he was appointed professor of New Testament exegesis at the Trier seminary. In 1874 this was closed as part of the Kulturkampf . Mosler was therefore first in Munster, then again in Trier, with studies and practical pastoral care. In 1886, after the reopening of the Episcopal Seminary in Trier, he worked there again as a professor.

From 1880 to 1891 he was a member of the Prussian House of Representatives for the constituency of the city of Trier. From 1884 to 1887 he was a member of the Reichstag for the constituency of Trier 1 Daun , Bitburg , Prüm and the German Center Party .
