The Hermann Pichler GmbH & Co. KG is a German company in the field of textile products with a focus on table linen and cushion covers. The company was founded in 1866 by Hermann Pichler.
history
In 1866, Hermann Pichler opened the Hermann Pichler trading company on Urach's market square, today's historic market square in the spa town of Bad Urach at the foot of the Swabian Alb . In 1876 the company started its own mechanical jacquard weaving mill . For this purpose, rooms in the city of Laichingen were rented.
The company received recognition when in 1879 it produced the “Kaisertuch” for the 83rd birthday of Kaiser Wilhelm I and in 1880 won first prize at the World Exhibition in Sydney. Hermann Pichler died around five years after the company headquarters was relocated from Urach to Stuttgart in 1882 . His son-in-law Wilhelm Wagner took over the management and founded the Pichler Foundation for needy weavers in 1889 . The Wagner family has been running the company in the fifth generation to this day. Between 1938 and 1940 the company's own weaving mill was expanded. In 1948, the anchoring with the city of Laichingen was even more firmly established when the company moved into the residential and administrative building in Laichingen, in which Richard Wagner, grandson of Wilhelm Wagner, took over management.
In 1956, the company started producing high-quality terry towels with new terry looms, which made a significant contribution to establishing the Pichler brand internationally in the table and terry towels sector. The trailer "Pichler with the flax blossom " gained notoriety beyond the German borders. In the 1980s, the company succeeded in expanding its success with brands such as FLAXY 2000, the exhibition at Heimtextil in Frankfurt in 1983 and the focus on table linen. 1985 Thomas Wagner, son of Richard Wagner, took over the management. In the 1990s, the Laichingen location was expanded, the “table dress” and the range expanded to include accessories, plaids, kitchen linen and sofa cushions.
In 2002 Hermann Pichler GmbH & Co filed for bankruptcy . The reasons for this included declining table linen sales and a generally poor economic development in previous years. But the company survived this low point. The non-iron home textiles came onto the market from 2003.
In 2014, the last weaving mill of Hermann Pichler GmbH & Co. KG in Laichingen was closed because production was no longer profitable due to globalization . In addition, the textile market had changed over the years. For example, while in the dowry to about mid-20th century still have a role linen and towels integral part thereof were what at a wedding was "passed" along with the woman's spouse, this is no longer the case today. Changes in society mean that there is no longer any trousseau at a marriage. These changes, which have developed over the years, had to be taken into account.
Hermann Pichler GmbH & Co. KG celebrated its 150th anniversary in 2016 after cushion covers developed into a sales driver alongside the traditional mainstay of tablecloths.
production
Hermann Pichler GmbH & Co. KG operates its own subsidiary, PIBAY AG, in Adana in south-east Turkey . Not only does most of the regular manufacturing operations take place here, the production facility is also available to large customers for direct delivery.
From mid-2018, table linen, which is still manufactured in Germany, will no longer be produced at the previous home location, but together with the traditional Laichingen company, LACHINEN, in the inter-municipal industrial area of Laichingen.
range
The range of the Hermann Pichler GmbH & Co. KG consists of table linen and pillows .
FLAXY
The FLAXY brand was first presented in 1983 at the Heimtextil trade fair in Frankfurt. FLAXY table linen is characterized by the fact that it retains a neat appearance even after several washes, dries quickly and is easy to iron. FLAXY also stands for durability, dimensional stability and longevity.
The non-iron
The products from the "Non-iron" series are made from jacquard-woven piqué fabric. This has easy-care properties, so ironing after washing is not necessary.
The wipeable ones
An acrylic micro-coating makes the textiles from this category dirt-repellent, water-impermeable and wipeable. This avoids time-consuming maintenance.
Profiline PITEX
The Profiline PITEX includes table linen for hotels and restaurants as well as senior residences.
