Hermann Pieper (Bergrat)
Hermann Pieper (born August 31, 1839 in Sprockhövel , † July 22, 1904 in Bochum ) was a German mine director and member of parliament.
Career
After studying mining, Pieper initially worked as a trainee lawyer and mining assessor at the Oberbergamt Dortmund . As mine director, he was in charge of the United Schürbank & Charlottenburg colliery from 1868 and of the Prinz Regent colliery as mine director from 1869 . Pieper was general director of the United Constantin the Great from January 1875 to July 1904 . Pieper was active in the miners' union and in the association for mining interests. He was head of the city council in Bochum. From 1896 to 1904 he was a member of the constituency of Bochum-Stadt in the Westphalian provincial parliament . He represented national liberal positions. The city of Herne has named Pieperstrasse after him since 1907 .
