The city of Bochum has granted honorary citizenship to 13 people since 1846 . In addition, Adolf Hitler and Josef Wagner were made honorary citizens in 1933. According to a communication to the British military government in 1946, Wagner was revoked after his exclusion from the NSDAP. Hitler was removed from the list in 1984 by a resolution of the city council. Note: The listing is done chronologically according to the date of award.
