Life

Pohlmeier began studying medicine at the University of Cologne and after two semesters moved to the University of Bonn , where he began studying theology and was accepted into the Catholic seminary . He dropped out of theology studies after six semesters and turned back to medicine. In 1957 he was at the University of Munich with Scripture A simple flat interface method of chorioallantoic membrane as a diagnostic tool in microbiology for MD PhD .

Pohlmeier trained as a psychiatrist with Paul Matussek and Anton von Braunmühl and completed a training analysis with Fritz Riemann . From 1970 to 1975 he worked as a senior physician in Ulm, where he belonged to Helmut Enke's working group, in which medical psychology was established as a subject. From 1975 Hermann Pohlmeier worked as a professor for this subject at the University of Göttingen. His focus was depression - and above all suicide research. He was a co-founder and chairman of the German Society for Suicide Prevention for over eight years. After the then President of the German Society for Human Dying (DGHS), Hans Henning Atrott , was arrested for illegal trading in potassium cyanide and tax evasion, Pohlmeier took over the chairmanship of this society in May 1993.
