Hermann Rohde

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Hermann Rohde (* 1874 in Rostock ; † June 27, 1914 in Deutsch-Wilmersdorf ) was a German architect .

Life

Rohde worked as a freelance architect in Berlin and in 1908 called his office at Augustastraße 19 in Deutsch-Wilmersdorf Atelier for architecture and construction . In the context of the building boom that began in Berlin and the surrounding area at the beginning of the 20th century, Rohde was able to win numerous competitions and carry out projects. From 1911 he worked in an office community or partnership with the architect Arnold Beschoren.

Buildings and drafts (incomplete)

  • Competition 1906, execution before 1910: Administration building of the State Insurance Institute of the Province of Posen in Posen , Hohenzollernstrasse / Habsburger Strasse
  • 1907: Competition design for workers' houses in the province of Poznan (awarded with a purchase)
  • 1908–1910: Administration building of the State Insurance Institute of the Province of Brandenburg in Berlin-Tiergarten, Keithstrasse 28–32 / Kurfürstenstrasse (revision and execution of a preliminary planning by the architects Hermann Solf (†) and Franz Wichards by Rohde and Beschoren; inauguration on April 25, 1910; below Monument protection )
  • 1911: Design for the Falkenhagen-West Casino
  • around 1912: Libnitz mansion on Rügen
  • 1913: Convalescent home "Wilhelmshöhe" of the State Insurance Institute of the Province of Brandenburg in Lindow (under monument protection)
  • Castle for Mrs. W. von Krause in Buchwald (Pomerania)

Occasionally, Rohde is only mistakenly ascribed two Berlin bridges :

  • 1894–1896: Schlesische Brücke in Berlin-Kreuzberg (probably incorrect mention of Hermann Rohde instead of urban planning inspector Otto Rohde) (under monument protection)
  • 1895–1896: Vienna Bridge in Berlin-Kreuzberg (probably incorrect mention of Hermann Rohde instead of urban planning inspector Otto Rohde)
