Hermann Rudolf (born October 7, 1960 ) is a former German soccer player . The offensive player played 59 second division games for SC Freiburg in the mid-1980s , in which he scored three goals.

Athletic career

Rudolf comes from the youth of the Hohenstein district club TSV Oberstetten , which he left for SSV Reutlingen 05 . For the club he made his debut in the third-class Oberliga Baden-Württemberg in the adult division. In 1981 he moved from relegation candidate to league competitor SpVgg 07 Ludwigsburg playing for promotion , with whom he became runner-up behind SSV Ulm in 1846 in the 1981/82 season . With 18 goals this season he made a significant contribution to the success, placing him behind the twice successful top scorer Manfred Grimm and Etepe Kakoko tied with Hermann Klebs in third place on the scorers list. After 15 goals this season and a seventh place in the table in the following year, he had made a name for himself in a higher class.

In the summer of 1983 Rudolf switched to professional football and joined the second division club SC Freiburg. Under coach Fritz Fuchs he was used regularly in his first season. At the end of the season he posted two goals in 34 league games. Under his successor Anton Rudinski, he temporarily moved into the second tier, so that after two seasons he turned his back on the club and moved again to the Oberliga Baden-Württemberg. From then on he went back to hunting for goals for his first station in the adult sector, SSV Reutlingen 05. After eight goals in the 1985/86 season , he hit double digits again in the following season with 14 goals this season. At the same time he was an undisputed regular player under coach Lothar Emmerich and his successor Lorenz-Günther Köstner and hardly missed a game.

The season 1988/89 ended Rudolf with his club level on points with 1. FC Pforzheim , so that a playoff for championship and participation in the promotion round to the 2. Bundesliga had to decide. In the game played in the Frankenstadion Heilbronn and whistled by the renowned referee Karl-Heinz Tritschler , who was to lead the final of the 1988/89 European Cup just under a week later , Rudolf became the match winner when he took the Pforzheim leadership through Gerhard Woltersdorf in the equalized with a penalty kick in the first half of the game and with his goal to make the final 2-1 score shortly after the restart, Reutlinger shot to the championship. There the team missed with six points as third in the table one of the two promotion places ultimately occupied by KSV Hessen Kassel and SpVgg Unterhaching . Under the new coach Jürgen Strack , after a 2-0 defeat in the direct duel for the championship title on the last day of the game, the team only finished second behind the amateur team of Karlsruher SC , with Rudolf shining again with 22 goals this season. Again it was enough in the subsequent round of promotion to the 2nd Bundesliga only to third place. This time 1. FSV Mainz 05 and 1. FC Schweinfurt proved to be too strong. With a 3-0 final win over FC Wangen 05 in the WFV-Pokal 1989/90 , however, at least one title was achieved, which qualified for participation in the DFB-Pokal 1990/91 . After a third place in the table in the following season, Rudolf left the club.

In the summer of 1991, Rudolf hired the league competitor SSV Ulm 1846, with whom he became runner-up behind his former club from Reutlingen. After only one season he returned, where he now had to line up behind the master from Ulm. In 1994 he qualified with the club for the newly introduced third-class regional league .
