Hermann Sander (born December 8, 1840 in Zell am Ziller ; † March 7, 1919 there ) was an Austrian writer and historian . He was a Vorarlberg regional historian, made outstanding contributions to the publication of Vorarlberg literature and wrote biographies of Vorarlberg personalities.

Life

His father Bonifaz Sander († 1856) came from Schruns and was district captain in Bludenz and also worked as a writer.
After completing his studies in Vienna (1860/61) and Innsbruck (1861–63), Hermann Sander began teaching at the Stella Matutina grammar school in Feldkirch, where he taught from 1863. From 1879 until his retirement in 1909, Sander took over the management of the secondary school in Innsbruck.

From 1869 to 1872 he was a school inspector for the Bludenz district, a member of the Vorarlberg and later also of the Tyrolean state school board. He was also a member of the Innsbruck municipal council from 1881 to 1886.

He also published his own literary works under the pseudonyms Anderlitz (from “An-der- Litz ”) or Dalla Tramosa .

He was particularly concerned with the life of the Bregenzerwald poet Franz Michael Felder and got his first edition of his work.
