Hermann Schadock (born December 21, 1883 in Berlin ; † March 27, 1951 there ) was a German cameraman and pioneer of domestic silent films.

Life

After graduating from primary school, Schadock trained as a photographer in his hometown and worked there in this profession.

In 1909 he came to the film and photographed in the following years until the outbreak of World War I , some early productions of the producer Heinrich Bolten-Baeckers , burlesque comedies with the popular comedian Leo Peukert . In 1917 Schadock was drafted, and shortly after the end of the war he returned behind the camera.

In the early 1920s, after taking photos of some sensational films by the actor and director Valy Arnheim , Hermann Schadock found no employment as a cameraman and had to make his way as a still photographer in the years to come.
