André Martin (born October 15, 1912 in Yverdon-les-Bains ; † October 22, 1995 in Chamblon , reformed , resident in Froideville ) was a Swiss politician ( FDP ).

biography

André Martin was born on October 15, 1912 in Yverdon-les-Bains as the son of commercial clerk Henri Samuel Martin and Berthe Lina, née Favre. Following the acquisition of Licentiate of Philosophy Faculty of the University of Lausanne in 1935, André Martin was initially 1936 to 1941 as a secondary school teacher in Le Sentier it then busy until 1953 in Yverdon. In addition, he was head of the Journal d'Yverdon .

André Martin was married to Susanne Françoise Marguerite, the daughter of Louis Giddey and the adopted daughter of Georgine Elise Louise Bartré. He died on October 22, 1995, a week after he had turned 83 in Chamblon.

Political career

André Martin, a member of the Free Democratic Party, held his first political office in 1946 in the municipal council ( legislature ) of Yverdon, of which he was a member until 1953. He subsequently served as mayor from 1954 to 1968 . He also represented his party in the Vaudois Grand Council from 1953 to 1966 . In 1958 he was also represented in the Vaudois Economic Development Office. He also sat on the National Council for the canton from 1966 to 1975 . He also served as President of the Union des Communes Vaudoises and the Swiss section of the Inter-Parliamentary Union from 1962 to 1970.

André Martin's commitment included the establishment of the cantonal technical university in Yverdon.
