Hermann Schiechtl

Hermann Schiechtl (born January 5, 1924 in Munich ; † February 1, 2016 there ) was a German civil engineer, ice dancer and president of the German Ice Skating Union .

Life

Hermann Schiechtl studied civil engineering in 1942/43 and from 1946 to 1948 and graduated in 1948 with a degree in engineering from the Technical University of Munich . He was initially employed at Hochtief AG . From 1957 to 1975 he was in charge of the construction department for structural and civil engineering at Lech-Elektrizitätswerke AG in Augsburg and at the same time was technical director of Schwäbische Kraftwerks- undversorgung GmbH in Augsburg. In 1976 he became an authorized signatory and head of the construction department of Bayerische Wasserkraftwerke AG in Munich and its board member. At the same time he took over the construction management of Lech-Elektrizitätswerke AG. In 1989 he retired.

He held numerous professional honorary positions, such as 20 years on the board of the German Association for Water Management and Cultural Building ; he was the founding president of the DVWK regional association of Bavaria.

He was married to Erika geb. Burger; there was a son from the marriage.

Ice dancing

Together with his later wife Erika Burger, he was active in the ice dance discipline of the 1950s in Munich EV and was Bavarian champion and third at the German figure skating championships in 1952 .

Hermann Schiechtl became a board member of the German Ice Skating Union DEU in 1954, at that time still a member of the German Ice Sports Association . He was a board member of the German Ice Skating Union and the German Ice Sports Association for 20 years. From 1989 to 1997 he was President of the Organizing Committee for Figure Skating Munich (OKEM).

In 1957 he was elected to the committees of the World Association of the International Skating Union ISU , from 1957 a member of the board and from 1980 to 1984 Vice President of the ISU.

He was particularly committed to the 1976 introduced recognition of ice dancing as an Olympic discipline .
