Hermann Schmitt (architect)
Hermann Schmitt (* 1854 in Bonn ; † after 1938 ) was a German architect and building contractor who mainly worked in his hometown of Bonn.
Life
Schmitt was trained by the Bonn master mason Hermann Stirtz. In 1890 he became self-employed as an architect and building contractor, the architecture office was initially based in Bonn's Nordstadt (Paulstraße 20) and then at different locations in the center (Brüdergasse 44, Friedensplatz 7, Meckenheimer Straße 14). Schmitt was a member of the Association of German Architects and a court sworn expert . As a member of the center, he was also a member of the Bonn city council. Schmitt is one of the most important architects in Bonn's southern part of the city , one of the largest fully preserved Wilhelminian-style residential areas in Germany, with around 30 preserved houses. In the northern part of the city he built some houses for the “Arbeiter- Wohnungsgenossenschaft eGmbH” founded in 1898 .
